Background on the coalition :

Immediately after the participation of the Arab Center for the Independence of Judiciary and Legal Profession- the Center- in the conference held in Egypt in respect of discussing the issue of the International Criminal Court ICC, in the beginning of 1998, the center expressed its interest of the issue of the ICC, as it is one of the most important gab in the rules of the international law.

As a result of the important of cooperation between civil society institutions , the sent invitations to all Egyptian human rights organizations; to study the possibilities of joint work as non-governmental organizations in order to contribute in the role played by different international organizations regarding promoting the idea of  establishment of the court. In accordance of this the establishment of the Egyptian coalition for the International Criminal Court was declared, on June 1^st 1999.
